The Center for International Education (CIE) helps UMW students realize their dreams of international education. CIE offers over 100 Faculty-led, semester, summer, internship, and volunteer programs in more than 50 countries. Education abroad alumni, who often go on to become leaders in their fields, report that these transformational, high-impact experiences are among the most rewarding of their undergraduate career. In fact, students who study abroad are more likely to be accepted to their first choice of graduate school, find a job within a year of graduation, and earn a higher starting salary! With the help of your gifts, more students will be able to take advantage of these life-changing opportunities.
International education experiences are incredibly beneficial for students. They develop vital cross-cultural and interpersonal skills, and gain a new sense of confidence, independence, and global citizenship. In an ideal world, every UMW student would have the opportunity to participate in an education abroad program. However, the financial reality for many students makes this challenging. With Giving Day donations, more UMW students will be able to access funding through the Education Abroad Assistance Fund that will enable their participation. CIE could not maintain this fund without the support of donors.
Your generous gifts will go directly to the CIE Education Abroad Assistance Fund, which provides outstanding selected students the opportunity to apply for grants to help cover the costs of airfare, housing, or academic expenses in support of their international education experience.
