#MARYWASHDAY HAS ENDED BUT YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE EVERY DAY. YOU CAN STILL MAKE A GIFT.
Fund for Mary Washington

As the University's unrestricted fund, your gift to the Fund for Mary Washington allows University leadership to have the resources necessary to ensure adequate funding for areas across campus; ensures we have the best faculty members continuing the level of excellence in our classrooms that our alumni expect, and provides the resources necessary for our students to succeed.

A gift of $2,500 or more to the Fund for Mary Washington will make you a member of the President’s Council. President’s Council members are among our most loyal supporters. With your gift, you are making a vote of confidence in the University and our leadership. President’s Council members are honored with their name displayed on a donor wall outside of the President’s Office in George Washington Hall and members are invited to special events during the year.

There are four President's Council giving levels:

  • $2,500 (anyone)
  • $1,250 (faculty and staff)
  • $1,250 (alumni who are 11-15 years out from graduation, 2007-2011)
  • $500 (graduates of the last decade, 2012-2021)

UMW receives less than 27% of its operating budget from the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Fund for Mary Washington helps bridge the gap between its support from state and tuition dollars - and the actual cost of providing an outstanding liberal arts education to our students.

We appreciate your support with a special gift to the Fund for Mary Washington. Your gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington will go to work immediately to help wherever needed most.

“Mary Washington thrives when it understands that its very existence is an investment in hope—a hope in the students we educate and a hope in our Republic’s future.”

-President Troy D. Paino

Late Night 80s Pub Challenge
Thank you Marcia and our 80s donors! Many graduates from the 1980s have fond memories of gatherings in the Mary Washington “Pub”, which is now called the Underground of Lee Hall. The pub was particularly popular during the 80s because the legal drinking age for wine and beer was 18, allowing for spirited gatherings for students. In honor of those fun times (and dollars spent in the Pub), Marcia Guida ’83 is challenging alumni of the 80s. If we receive $1,500 in gifts to the Fund for Mary Washongton from alumni of 1980-1989 between 8pm and 10pm, Marcia will make a gift of $1,500 to support student scholarships. Alumni of the 80s make your gift today and help support our current and future students!
