College of Education

The College of Education (COE) is an integral part of the regional educational community, committed to preparing quality teachers, and improving teaching and learning in area schools.

More than 300 COE students complete practicum experiences in area schools each semester with a focus on meeting K-12 students’ learning needs, and over 75 COE students complete year-long internships in area schools annually. In addition to enhancing their teaching skills in the field, it is a vital service to the schools where they are placed.

A recent focus of the COE is supporting school-based programs (such as Teachers for Tomorrow - TfT) as a vital partnership with local districts. These partnerships are aimed at high school students exploring teaching as a career path. Popular programs like TfT are growing as a way for colleges and universities to train and prepare a cadre of new teachers to go back and teach in their area communities. Research shows students perform better under a teacher who attended school in that district, and teacher retention is higher.

Please help to raise money for COE programs and resources focused on our students as they embark on an amazing career of teaching future generations to come. Your generous gift will make an important difference in the lives of our COE students! Thank you for helping to #MakeItPossible.

Support future educators today and double your impact! Steve and Donna Sheehan Gladis '68 will match each gift made to the College of Education, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.
