What is Mary Wash Giving Day?
Mary Wash Giving Day (#MaryWashDay) is a 24-hour day of giving to the University of Mary Washington. The day begins at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, and goes until 11:59 p.m. that night. Through a unique online platform, special challenges, and the opportunity to expand your impact through matching funds, this special day makes giving fun and interactive.
What will my Giving Day gift support?
Your gift will be designated to the area you choose. Browse the "Areas of Support" on the home page to learn how your gift can benefit students and programs across the University. To support the University's areas of greatest need, designate your gift to the Fund for Mary Washington.
May I make my Giving Day gift over the phone or in person?
Yes! Please call 540-654-1024 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, to make a gift over the phone. If you would like to deliver your gift in person, you may bring it to the Jepson Alumni Executive Center at 1119 Hanover Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on April 4.
May I sign up for a recurring gift on Giving Day?
Due to the volume of gifts on Giving Day, we are unable to set up recurring gifts on this day. Please contact the Office of Annual Giving if you would like to enroll in recurring giving: 540-654-1024 or umwgift@umw.edu.
What is the "Donor Wall," and what if I do not want my name listed?
Donors have four options upon making their gift: they can choose to have their name and gift amount displayed on the donor wall, to have only their name but not their gift amount displayed, to have only their donation amount but not their name displayed, or to remain completely anonymous with no information displayed. The choice is yours, but we encourage you to share your gift to inspire others!
How can I inspire others to give on Mary Wash Giving Day?
Your voice is key to reaching our goal of 2,600 gifts and 400 first-time donors in just 24 hours! Spread the word on social media with #MaryWashDay, and remind all of your friends to visit givingday.umw.edu on April 4, 2023. Sign up to be a Giving Day Ambassador to maximize your impact. What if the area I would like to support is not listed?
You may support any area at the University with your Giving Day gift. To designate your gift to an area that is not listed on the giving form, please choose any option from the drop-down list of "Department or Program" and select "Other" from the drop-down list of "Fund Designations." You will be prompted to enter the designation for your gift.
Is it safe to make my gift on this site?
Yes. The site is 100% secure, and gifts are made over Transport Layer Security. Your information is used only by the University of Mary Washington and the University of Mary Washington Foundation and is never shared with a third party.
What is the minimum donation amount?
The minimum online donation is $5. All gifts are appreciated and valued!
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Your gift is to the University of Mary Washington Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Will I receive a receipt for my gift?
Yes. You will receive an email receipt.
May I give to more than one area with a single submission of the donation form?
Yes, you can give to as many areas as you would like. On the donation form, click "+Add another gift to your donation," to make multiple gifts to different areas across the University in the same transaction.
