College of Education

The College of Education (COE) is an integral part of the educational community, committed to preparing teachers and improving teaching and learning in area schools.

Over 300 COE students complete practicum experiences in area schools each semester with a focus on meeting students’ needs and over 75 COE students complete year-long internships in area schools each year. In addition to enhancing their skills in the field, it is a service to the schools where they are placed.

About 30% of COE students are first-generation college students, and many work to put themselves through school. All students who want to be teachers must pass state-mandated licensure exams. Paying for licensure exams is expensive  ($150-$450 depending on licensure area) and these costs are often not built into students’ financial aid packages. Many of our students struggle to come up with the money while completing full-time internships – a problem made worse by the global pandemic. We have set a goal to raise $10,000 by December 31, 2020 to support this need.

Please help to raise money to assist COE students struggling to pay for required licensure exams. Your gift will make an important difference in the lives of our students! Thank you for helping to #MakeItPossible.
